MILPITAS (KRON) — Milpitas police have arrested an auto theft suspect on Wednesday morning, according to police spokesman Herny Kwong.
Police said at around 3:38 a.m. Wednesday, an officer was patrolling the parking lot of a Walmart, located at 301 Ranch Dr., when he saw a tan GMC Yukon parked in the lot.
The officer checked the license plate and found the car had been reported stolen from San Jose on Sept. 10. Officers arrested 31-year-old Cole Way Nicholes without incident, police said.
Officers searched the car and found mail possibly stolen from San Jose.
Nicholes also had an outstanding felony warrant for his arrest for auto theft from the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office and was on probation from Sonoma County, Kwong said.
He was booked into Santa Clara County Jail for auto theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, misappropriation of property, providing false identification information, driving on suspended license, violation of his probation, and the felony warrant.
