NEW YORK (CNN Newsource) — A former Harrisville Central High School student has accused school officials of forcing her to undress so they could perform a highly invasive body cavity search.

The unidentified former student said it happened to her a year ago when she was a senior.

According to a new civil rights lawsuit, the former student was accused of having drugs.

When she denied the claims, she was taken to a medical examination room by two female staff, the school nurse and the elementary principal, where she was forced to removed her clothes.

The lawsuit says the former student “was forced to stand exposed for several minutes” while her clothing was inspected.

No drugs were found.

The school nurse then left the room and returned, carrying a glove and flashlight.

Despite her protests, her body cavities were allegedly searched.

The lawsuit has requested a trial but court documents say the matter will go to mediation in March.

The lawsuit does not say how much money in damages is being sought.
