SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The two dogs accused of mauling to death a Chihuahua mix in San Francisco last month are now in custody of Animal Care & Control, sources told KRON4 News.

The incident happened Nov. 20 on the 600 block of Brunswick Street at around 4:30 p.m.

A 52-year-old woman says she walking her Chihuahua mix Joey on a leash when two unleashed dogs, described as pit bulls, started running towards her from across the street.

In an effort to save Joey, the woman picked him up as the dogs attacked.

However, the dogs pounced with such velocity that they literally pulled the woman across the pavement as she held on.

The victim sustained minor injuries, but Joey later died at a pet hospital.

Police say the dogs’ owner left the scene without providing contact information and showed little remorse.

It’s unclear if police have made contact with the owner.

If you have any information, you are asked to call police at (415)-575-4444.
