SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Despite a wet start to the rainy season, large parts of California are still dealing with drought.
It is unlikely this new round of wet weather will end the dry conditions but hopes are high that it might be enough to keep the drought from getting worse.
Right now, the snowpack in the Sierra is at about 85 percent of normal for late February, and the state’s reservoirs are holding around 56 percent of the average amount of water.
That’s better than in year’s past, but state water managers said it will take a lot more moisture to end the drought.
They also said that by mid or later April, we should know if enough moisture has fallen to end the water use restrictions put into place last year.
