MARTINEZ (KRON) ?The 17-year-old Antioch youth suspected of kidnapping and raping a Domino’s Pizza delivery driver over the weekend appeared before a judge in Martinez on Monday.
Darrion Earl Miles Jr. made his first court appearance following the district attorney office’s decision to charge him as an adult due to the serious nature of the crime. Miles is facing felony charges in the kidnapping, rape, and robbery of a 22-year-old woman who was attacked while delivering at a residence in Antioch.
“This is a woman who was essentially doing her job as a pizza delivery person,” said Senior Deputy District Attorney Bruce Flynn. “This is a woman who was raped, she was kidnapped, she was sodomized. She was held at what she believed was gunpoint.”
According to police, the victim said that she had exited her car to deliver a pizza on Sunday morning when the suspect approached her and forced her back into her vehicle at gunpoint.
The teen ordered her to drive to an undisclosed location a few blocks away where he proceeded to rape the victim. After the attack, the suspect forced the woman to drive him back to the Bluebell Circle residence, robbed the woman, then ran into the home.
Police arrested the boy at the residence.
Flynn said authorities are not yet sure whether Miles had a real gun or a replica gun. Miles’ father, Darrion Earl Miles Sr., told KRON 4 that a “gun box” was found.
Miles’ father also raised questions about the chronology of events and said that there was too much distance to cover in a short period of time for there to be a sexual attack.
“My son said he didn’t do nothing and I’m going to believe him until they prove otherwise,?Miles said.
Flynn dismissed his claims as a father “wanting to believe his son and defending his son.”
“We’ll prove the timeline in court,” Flynn said.
The teen’s arraignment was delayed and he is due back in court on Feb. 18. Miles is being held in a juvenile detention facility on $6,475,000 bail.
