MARIN CO. (BCN) — A Woman and her grandson suffered major injuries in a two-car collision in Tomales on Friday evening, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Approximately 6 p.m. Friday, a 63-year-old woman was driving a 2002 Toyota RAV4 west on Tomales-Petaluma Road heading toward Irvin Road, near Tomales High School, CHP officials said.
A 16-year-old from Sonoma County was driving a 2005 Mercedes-Benz and obeyed a stop sign at Irvin Road, then turned left and collided with the Toyota, according to the CHP. The Toyota struck the left side of the Mercedes, CHP officials said.
Emergency crews from Marin and Sonoma counties responded to the scene, CHP officials said.
The Toyota driver suffered major injuries and was transported to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, according to the CHP. Her 5-year-old grandson in a rear car seat also suffered major injuries and was airlifted to UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital Oakland, CHP officials said.
The Mercedes driver was not injured in the collision, according to the CHP.
Personnel from the Marin County Sheriff’s Office and U.S. Coast Guard also responded to the accident, CHP officials said.
