HAYWARD (KRON) — An auto shop worker in Hayward was injured this weekend after a man whose car he fixed ran him over with the repaired vehicle.

The victim, a 47-year-old man and the suspect got into an argument about how much the repairs cost.  Disgruntled, the suspect, 26-year-old Navdeep Virk, allegedly struck the victim

intentionally with the car before speeding away.

The incident occurred around 6 p.m. Saturday at an auto shop in the 29000 block of Ruus Road, according to police.

The victim was struck and dragged for a few yards under the car and sustained injuries deemed non life-threatening.

A motorist witnessed the incident and helped responding officers locate Virk, who was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon and violating the conditions of his parole.

Virk has a history of prior convictions, including possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, according to Alameda County Superior Court records.

Virk was booked into Santa Rita Jail with his initial bail set at $185,000, according to court records. He was scheduled to appear in court in Hayward this morning for entry of plea.
