ASTORIA, Ore. (KRON) Police say a missing California teenager who met a Washington state man online has turned up at a McDonald’s on the Oregon coast and reported she’d been abducted.

Police said the 15-year-old girl from Sanger, California, and the 48-year-old man parted Monday night when he walked away from his pickup truck and she walked into the Astoria restaurant to notify authorities.

The deputy chief in Astoria, Eric Halverson, said Tuesday that the two met through social media. Police aren’t releasing other details of the investigation.

A police statement Tuesday said that Russell Wayne Deviney is from Everett, Washington, and is a sought as a “suspected abductor.

The girl was placed in protective custody. Halverson said her parents are expected to arrive Tuesday in Oregon.
