LAS VEGAS (KRON/AP) – A public viewing and memorial service are scheduled in Las Vegas this week to honor the late blues legend B.B. King.
He died Thursday at his home in Las Vegas at the age of 89.
His business agent, LaVerne Toney, says the public viewing will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Palm Mortuary West.
Mortuary manager Matthew Phillips says there won’t be a memorial service during the viewing, but people will be able see King’s open casket.
On Saturday a private memorial is scheduled for family and friends at a larger Palm Mortuary chapel in downtown Las Vegas.
Though details are pending, a funeral and burial are expected to be held in Mississippi next week.
King’s attorney, Arthur Williams Jr., told the Associated Press Friday that the musician wanted his funeral to be held in Indianola, Mississippi, in a church near the site where he picked cotton as a boy.
