MARTINEZ (KRON) — Steve Glazer has a significant lead over Susan Bonilla in the special election for a state Senate seat in Contra Costa and Alameda counties.
With about 90,000 votes counted after polls closed Tuesday in Contra Costa and Alameda counties, Glazer leads Bonilla 54 percent to 46 percent.
The race pitted Glazer, a longtime adviser to Governor Jerry Brown and current mayor of Orinda against Bonilla, who is an assemblywoman from Concord.
Bonilla was endorse by the California’s Democratic party.
The race is to replace Mark DeSaulnier, who was elected to Congress.
