A man is in custody after what started as a car burglary investigation turned into an officer-involved shooting Friday morning.

Around 12:59 a.m. officers were investigating a car burglary in the area of Steiner Street and Geary Boulevard.

One suspect was arrested at the scene. The other ran to the area of O’Farrell and Webster streets.

There, he got into a parked car, a white Hyundai sedan, and again fled from the officers.

On the 1500 block of O’Farrell St. “a series of events occurred,” police said.

These events include the suspect crashing into two marked SFPD cars and an officer-involved shooting.

The suspect drove away from the scene, but was eventually stopped inside Civic Center Plaza where he was taken into custody.

No one was struck by gunfire in this incident, police said.

The suspect was taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

An officer that was injured in the O’Farrell Street incident was treated and released at the scene.
