GILROY (KRON) — Firefighters have contained a two-alarm grass fire that burned about seven to eight acres in Gilroy Wednesday afternoon.
Around 12:20 p.m., firefighters got a call from an employee at the Eagle Ridge Golf Course who said that there was a fire burning on the course. The employee said that the fire had burned about an acre of grass behind the ninth hold and was moving up a hill.
By 1:50 p.m., firefighters had the blaze about 50 percent contained, Gilroy fire division Chief Mary Gutierrez said. It was fully contained just before 2:30 p.m.
Fire crews used air tankers and water-dropping helicopters to put out the fire.
No structures were damaged by the fire and no injuries were reported, Gutierrez said.
There were no evacuation or shelter-in-place orders, she said.
Firefighters will remain at the scene into the evening to put out any hot spots, she said.
The cause of the fire is under investigation.
