NEW ORLEANS (KRON) – Former NFL star Darren Sharper is expected to plead guilty or no-contest to charges that he drugged and sexually assaulted women in four states.

Sharper had previously pleaded not guilty in New Orleans, but is expected to change that plea at a hearing scheduled for Friday morning.

By pleading guilty or no-contest, Sharper will face at least nine years in prison for charges that he distributed drugs with the intent to commit rape in Nevada, Arizona and California.

A multi-jurisdiction plea agreement was announced in March.

This won’t end Sharper’s legal woes. He has two Louisiana state counts of aggravated rape stemming from accusations that Sharper sexually assaulted two drug-impaired women at his apartment in September 2013. Those charges are pending in New Orleans.
