Martinez (KRON) — Martinez police officers have made an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that sent a woman to the hospital.

Just after 2:15p.m. on Sunday, officers were called to the 2100 block of Alhambra Avenue, where a pedestrian had been hit, who appeared to have serious injuries. She is now in stable condition.

Martinez police Cpl. Michael Estanol said the woman suffered “a lot of abrasions and bruising,” and physicians were concerned she might have a head injury.

“She’ll be in the hospital for a couple of days,” Estanol said, adding that her actual recovery time could be much longer.

The driver was located a few blocks away after several witnesses followed the vehicle and contacted Martinez police.

The female driver, later identified as 45-year-old Michelle Cleveger of Martinez, was arrested on suspicion of DUI and taken to the hospital to be treated for her injuries.

Police say at least three parked vehicles were also hit.
