SACRAMENTO (KRON/AP) – The Sacramento Kings have a new name for its future arena: Golden 1 Center.
The Kings and Golden 1 Credit Union have reached an agreement on a naming rights deal as part of a 20-year partnership, the NBA team announced today. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
The $477 million arena is being built in downtown Sacramento. The new sports and entertainment center is expected to open for the 2016-17 NBA season.
Golden 1 Credit Union, headquartered in Sacramento, is the leading credit union in California and the sixth-largest credit union in the nation.
The Kings currently play at Sleep Train Arena in the Sacramento suburb of Natomas. The building was called Arco Arena from 1988 to 2011 and was briefly renamed Power Balance Pavilion before the Kings reached a deal with Sacramento-based Sleep Train mattress company in 2012.
