SAN JOSE (KRON) — The bus driver who helped reunite a kidnapped toddler back with his family was honored at a special ceremony on Friday.

Tim Watson was given multiple awards during the emotional ceremony.

On June 5, the bus driver with the Valley Transportation Authority was instrumental in reuniting a 3-year-old boy with his family. The toddler was kidnapped by a man at the Milpitas library. An hour later, after seeing a message from his dispatcher, Watson saw the pair on his Fremont bound bus and notified dispatch.

His dispatch office called police, who were waiting at the Fremont BART station to recover the child and arrest the suspect.

During the ceremony, several of Watson’s VTA colleagues and police were also honored for their roles.

Watson, who has only been working for VTA for six months, said he did what anyone would have done in his shoes.
