California Highway Patrol is investigating an attempted murder that happened Saturday in a vehicle traveling over the Golden Gate Bridge.
Around 12:50 a.m. CHP officers assigned to the Marin area were contacted by the Fairfield Police Department about a stabbing incident they were investigating.
Fairfield police said a stabbing victim had just been admitted to a local hospital.
During their investigation, officers learned the stabbing happened as the victim was riding in a car across the Golden Gate Bridge.
Authorities identified the suspect as 21-year-old Jose Candido Plancarterueda of Lodi.
The victim had been stabbed multiple times in the face causing severe injuries.
As CHP officers were heading to interview the victim they were informed Plancarterueda had been arrested by police after a “be on the lookout” was broadcast for his vehicle.
Officers spotted the vehicle driving through Lodi and detained Plancarterueda after a traffic stop.
