San Francisco (KRON) This weekend the Bay Area is expected to be hit by the strongest storm of 2016. A lull in El Nino gave the Bay Area a break for most of February but now March could help put a dent in California’s drought.

This storm will hit coastal areas, the North and South Bay the hardest. San Francisco will see about 2 inches of rain, while Santa Rosa is expected to get nearly 4 inches of rain. The Santa Cruz mountains could see a major downpour of 6 inches of rain.

The East Bay and inland areas can expect up to 2 inches of rain.KRON4’S WEATHER FORECAST

The winds will be exceedingly strong as well with gusts hitting 50 miles an hour.
