A Burlingame law firm is sharing details of a lawsuit filed last month against the company Massage Envy.
It alleges sexual assault against several customers. That lawsuit was filed in Superior Court in San Mateo County and lists five California women as plaintiffs.
They include a San Francisco woman who says she was sexually assaulted at a Massage Envy in Burlingame.
The woman says it happened in November of last year when a male therapist improperly touched her and then had non-consensual sex.
The plaintiff, listed as Jane Doe No. 1, says she was “frozen in fear and shock.”
She claims a franchise owner later told her that her story didn’t “match up” with the therapist’s denials and said the man would not be fired.
That suspect was later arrested and faces sexual battery charges.
A Buzzfeed investigation last year reported that more than 180 people across the country claim they were sexually assaulted at Massage Envy.
