If you are heading to the Sierra Friday evening expect delays once you get past Sacramento and into the foothills.
I-80 was closed in both directions at Drum Forebay due to the heavy snow and multiple crashes. The CHP said the roadway was very slick.

But as of 8:45 p.m., both directions of I-80 reopened. There are currently chain controls in both directions.KRON4’s REAL TIME TRAFFIC MAPS

High wind warnings and wind advisories were issued for the South Lake Tahoe, where wind gusts have been recorded at 54 mph.
