RICHMOND (BCN) — An allegedly drunk Acura driver critically injured a woman when he slammed into her disabled Honda on Interstate Highway 580 in Richmond early

this morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Honda had stalled and was blocking a lane on the westbound highway near Marina Bay Parkway, CHP officials said. The driver, a 25-year-old Richmond woman, was still seated inside and had taken her seatbelt off.

Alwyn Redd of Oakland, driving an orange Acura, crashed into the back of the Honda. Redd and the woman both suffered major injuries in the crash and were taken to a hospital.

Redd was determined to have been drinking before the crash and is facing possible felony DUI charges, according to the CHP.

Anyone with information about the crash has been asked to call the CHP at (707) 551-4200 or (510) 450-3821.
