ROHNERT PARK (KRON) — A Hispanic man is wanted in connection to robberies at Subway sandwich stores in Petaluma and Rohnert Park Wednesday night.
The man allegedly pulled a knife on an employee of the Petaluma store at 401 Kenilworth Drive and demanded money around 8:10 p.m., according to police. He then grabbed what the employee had removed from the tip jar and fled the business when the employee refused to give him money.
Police also said that the employee saw what appeared to be the handle of a partially hidden firearm in the robber’s pants pocket. The robber was recorded by an in-store camera and a camera outside the store recorded a vehicle that fled the area after the incident.
The vehicle is described as a light colored, two-door compact, possibly a Honda Civic or Acura Integra with black rims, according to Rohnert Park public safety officials.
A man that fit the description of the Petaluma store suspect was also suspected of robbing another Subway shop, at 6585 Commerce Blvd around 8:35pm the same night.
A subway employee told police that a man had walked into the restaurant, asked a couple of questions about the menu, and then walked back out as other customers entered. He then returned to buy soda and demanded all of the money from the register be put into the soda cup. He ran out of the building quickly after and was last seen running east on Hunter Drive, according to Rohnert Park Police.
Authorities from both cities have released photos of the suspect, who is described as a Hispanic male between 20 and 25 years old who is 5 feet 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was wearing glasses, a gray and red San Francisco 49ers cap, a plaid short-sleeved button-up shirt, blue jeans and red shoes.
