PETALUMA (BCN) — Officers arrested an alleged drunk driver Friday night in Petaluma after witnesses saw him strike four parked cars and a motorcycle with his truck, according to police.
Around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to Sixth and D Streets for a report of a vehicle crash, according to police.
Upon arrival, officers found four cars and one Harley Davidson motorcycle parked on the west side of the road that had been struck by a silver Dodge pickup truck, police said.
The pickup truck was stopped and parked on top of the motorcycle.
According to witnesses, the truck’s driver ran out of the truck and into a house south of E Street following the crash, according to police.
Officers arrived at the residence and located the truck’s driver, identified as 29-year-old Evert Gonzalezgarcia of Petaluma.
Gonzalezgarcia did not know the home’s owners and ran into the house in order to avoid being arrested, police said.
After speaking with him, officers determined he had a strong odor of alcohol and appeared intoxicated.
Officers had Gonzalezgarcia perform a field sobriety test, during which his breath was tested and he produced a blood alcohol level of .138, according to police.
Officers arrested Gonzalezgarcia, who was unlicensed, on suspicion of driving while under influence of alcohol. He was booked into the Sonoma County Jail, with bail being set at $5,000, police said.
Four of the five vehicles which Gonzalezgarcia struck sustained major damage and the owners were all contacted.
No one was injured during the incident, according to police.
