PITTSBURG (KRON)—A fatality involving a Pittsburg police officer now under investigation by the Contra Costa County District Attorney’s Office.

Around 2:30 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, police tried pulling over a driver on Hillview Drive. The driver refused to obey officers.

The man got out of his car and lead officers on a foot pursuit.

He went into his home on the 4200 block of Hillview Drive where police followed him inside.

The suspect fought with officers and even bit one of them in the hand.

Police say they used a taser on him, but the man kept fighting with officers.

After police handcuffed the suspect, he became unresponsive.

Officers tried performing CPR on the suspect but were unable to resuscitate him.

The man was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced dead.

The 32-year-old man did have a criminal history of transporting illegal drugs, domestic violence and terrorist threats.

The suspect’s name is not being released at this time.

The investigation of this case is still active and ongoing.
