OAKLAND (KRON) — A construction worker found a body Thursday morning near Interstate Highway 880 just south of downtown Oakland, a California Highway Patrol officer said.

The body was reported to CHP officials at 8:55 a.m. just off the right side of the Oak Street on-ramp to southbound I-880, according to authorities.

Oakland firefighters and Alameda County coroner’s officials responded.

The man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Foul play is not suspected and it does not appear a collision with a vehicle caused the man’s death.

Anyone with information about the man or his death is asked to call the Oakland CHP office at (510) 450-3821.
