SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)—A suspect has been arrested for stealing a man’s phone while he was playing Pokemon Go in San Francisco on Thursday.
Police responded to a report of a robbery in the city’s Mission District neighborhood when a man pointed to someone who stole his phone.
Officers then detained the man.
The victim said he was walking on Mission Street playing Pokemon Go when the suspect stole his phone out of his hands. The victim then chased the suspect demanding he return his phone and threatened to hit him with a bottle.
The suspect put his hands in his pockets alluding to having a gun and threatened to shoot him if he hit him with a bottle.
When officers searched the suspect, they found out he didn’t have a gun.
The victim was able to unlock his phone using his fingerprint and showed officers a picture of himself on it.
The suspect has been identified by police as 23-year-old Damarea Williams-Evans. He was booked into jail for felony strong-arm robbery, terrorist threats, and narcotics charges.
Williams-Evans also had several warrants from South San Francisco, San Mateo and Marin County.
