Neighbors in San Mateo County are concerned after a spike in home burglaries in one community, and now, police are searching for the suspects.

The thieves hit while many people were out enjoying the long holiday weekend.

And now, police are patrolling different neighborhoods in the area to prevent it from happening again.

Residential burglaries increased between Nov. 20 and Nov. 24.

And it wasn’t just one part of town. Thieves have been targeting different neighborhoods.

And each time, those families were not at home.

Police say the majority of the time, the culprits would break the glass of a rear sliding door or window.

And in most cases, the homes that were targeted did not have security alarms installed.

Authorities say there is evidence that links some of the burglaries to the same suspects. All of those men wore hooded sweatshirts.

Due to this uptick in burglaries, police have increased their presence in both marked and unmarked vehicles throughout the city,

As a reminder, police strongly encourage the use of burglar alarms and surveillance systems.

They are currently processing images from footage they’ve received in surrounding areas.
