BERKELEY (KRON) — A man is at large after pulling a gun on security officers in Berkeley on Thursday night.

Shortly after 5:00 p.m., a man allegedly pulled a gun on security guards in the parking lot of the Berkeley Bowl grocery store located at 2020 Oregon Street as he was leaving the store with a sandwich.

The man produced a gun outside the store and he then ran away on Russell Street to a nearby residential area in the vicinity of Harper Street and Ashby Avenue, according to Lt. Andrew Rateaver.

Officers made a “robust response” to the situation by setting up a perimeter but were unable to locate the man, Rateaver said. The man is still at large.

Rateaver said officers “found some evidence connected with the crime,” although he declined to state their evidence.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 50’s.
