SAN JOSE (KRON)—Fireworks are being blamed as a possible cause to a San Jose house fire that displaced 11 people Saturday afternoon, according to fire officials.
It was reported at 1:36 p.m. on Miami Drive near Florida Avenue, fire dispatcher said.
Those living inside the home were able to evacuate before fire crews arrived.
The fire was under control by about 2:40 p.m., said fire Capt. Mike Van Elgort.
No injuries have been reported.
Firefighters believed the fire started outside and quickly spread inside the house
“We understand many people are celebrating Chinese New Year but fireworks are illegal in San Jose. It doesn’t take much to find an ignition source and unfortunately a family lost their home due to this,” Van Elgort said.
