LEE COUNTY, FL. (CNN) — Police arrested a teenage girl, after they say she stole a pizza delivery driver’s car in Florida.
It happened in the early morning hours Wednesday.
The 14-year-old girl’s father says she planned the vehicle theft so she could visit her boyfriend.
“I got woke up to a phone call that she ordered a pizza and took off with the car,” said the girl’s father, Joseph Bigelo.
A dreaded phone call for any parent — but late Tuesday night, Bigelow says he actually wasn’t surprised he got the call.
“She is on the wrong track and she can do whatever she wants,” he said.
Deputies arrested his daughter Josie Bigelow after they say she ordered a pizza from Papa John’s to her neighbors house and stole the delivery driver’s car.
“Nobody here ordered a pizza I don’t eat pizza,” said the neighbor, Noel Perez.
Perez said he heard his doorbell ring at midnight and was greeted by a man holding a pizza.
“He said he was delivering pizza to my address and while he was doing it apparently somebody jumped from this area over here – jumped in the car and took off with his car,” said Perez.
Only our cameras were there as deputies questioned the two and looked for the vehicle.
…Which ended up six miles away on Seabring Avenue in Bill Teal’s driveway.
“Why did they pick our driveway I don’t know whether they were chasing the girl,” said Teal.
Deputies arrested the teen — and Josie’s father said her and her boyfriend planned the whole thing.
“She just stole a pizza man’s car and she has I sent the cop messages of her and her boyfriend talking about robbing people and all that,” the father said.
He says deputies let her out of the juvenile detention center four hours after her arrest — which he says isn’t long enough.
“She needs an A***-whipping d**n right she does that and jail,” the father said.
Reporter Off-Cam: “Do you think she will commit another crime?”:
“Absolutely. Absolutely. No doubt about it — she’s going to because there is nothing being done,” he said.
The delivery driver got his car back and he gave the pizza to the deputies who responded to the call.
