SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency has approved a demand-based parking plan in San Francisco.

It means drivers will see parking rates go up in some of the city’s busiest areas.

The program will use “smart meters” to regularly adjust the parking price based on demand.

Transportation officials say this will reduce the time people spend looking for parking by opening up more spots.
