SANTA BARBARA (KRON)– Firefighters in Santa Barbara saved about 100 animals from the Thomas fire and it was no easy task.

Crews stumbled upon the animals last week and noticed they had no food and little water.

One firefighter, Jay Walker, went to store and purchased some feed for the chicken, pellets for the goats and a bunch of water to hold them over until their owners got back.

Realizing the area the animals were in wasn’t safe, Walker called in some help from Santa Barbara County Animal Services.

Then came the hard part, rounding up 100 birds.

More than a dozen firefighters showed up to help and it still was a struggle trying to wrangle all of them up.WHAT OTHERS ARE CLICKING ON:
