A suspect shot in Wednesday’s officer-involved shooting in San Francisco has died, according to police.
The suspect, identified as 21-year-old Lehad Eid of Suisun City, died at the hospital following the shooting.
At around 4:34 p.m., officers were called to the area of Geneva and London on reports of a man with a gun.
The officers’ investigation led them to a nearby barbershop, where police “made contact with several individuals … and shots were exchanged.”
An officer was shot in the leg and was transported to San Francisco General Hospital.
Investigators say, five other people, including the suspect and a minor, were wounded in the shooting.
Despite lifesaving efforts, Eid succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.
San Francisco General Hospital spokesman Brent Andrew says the officer is in fair condition.
The 17-year-old victim was treated and released from the hospital.
Vladimir Shteynberg, the barbershop owner, said that two barbers and a teenage boy who hung around the shop after school were among those shot.
Shteynberg, who wasn’t in the shop when the shooting occurred, said all three were expected to recover. He said more than 20 bullet holes were visible in the shop’s floor and walls, but none of the windows or mirrors were damaged.
The barbershop confirms the other two hospitalized are barbers who were stuck during the shootout
Police are still investigating and will hold a town hall meeting to provide more information on the shooting.
