If you didn’t think gas prices in California couldn’t get any higher, think again!
Just last week we told you the absolute worst average price for gas in the country is in San Francisco, where at that time regular gas cost $4.10 a gallon.
Just a little more than a week later now, the Bay Area is seeing gas prices averaging around $4.21.
Now $4.09 is apparently how much the state’s average price of regular gas is — that’s up 44 cents from a month ago, and 46 cents ago from a year ago, according to AAA.
Right now the national average is up to $2.90, up 20 cents from a month ago and 8 cents more than a year ago, according to AAA.
The national uptick in gases is the result of a combination of factors including refinery outages and increased taxes.
But California isn’t at its worst just yet.
According to GasBuddy, California’s record high average was back in 2012 when the average price for gas was $4.65.
The national record high was $4.11 in 2008, according to AAA.
