A 17-year-old boy was robbed at gunpoint in downtown Palo Alto on Saturday night and the suspects are at large, police said.
The robbery happened at around 11:17 p.m. on the corner of Lytton Avenue and Kipling Street. The suspect had sped away from the scene after the robbery.
The victim was talking on his cellphone and walking east on Lytton Avenue. When he reached the corner at Kipling Street, three suspects went up to him and demanded his phone.
When the boy refused, the main suspect asked another to give him a gun. The second suspect passed a black semi-automatic handgun to the first suspect, who pointed the gun at the boy and ordered him to get on the ground.
After the boy refused, the first suspect punched the boy in the head. He then got down on the ground as the suspects went through his pockets and stole his phone and cash.
The three suspects then ran to a black, four-door getaway car driven by a fourth suspect, police said.
The car sped away south on Kipling Street towards University Avenue.
The boy suffered from a small abrasion to his head due to the punch.
The boy described the suspect as three Hispanic men in their 20s.
The first suspect is 5 feet 10 inches tall, with a thin build, wearing a black zippered hoodie over a white shirt. He had long hair and was wearing a red Polo brand hat.
The second suspect is 5 feet 7 inches tall, wearing a black T-shirt and blue jeans. He had a fade haircut.
There is no further description of the third suspect.
The boy did not see who was driving the suspect car.
