There is a new delay for San Francisco’s under-construction Central Subway.

According to city officials, a contractor laid down 3.2 miles of the wrong type of track.

Apparently, they used a lower grade material than what the contract had specified.

The city has ordered the contractor to remove and replace the tracks.

This will delay the project by one month.

It is now set to be completed Jan. 2020.

The city says the contractor will be responsible for the cost.

When complete, the subway will run from Chinatown to the Caltrain station on Fourth Street.
