PARKLAND, FL (WCMH) — The family of Parkland school shooting survivor and gun control activist David Hogg was the target of a “swatting” incident Tuesday in Florida.
“Swatting” is the action of reporting a fake emergency to 911 in order to have armed officers arrive at a given location.

The caller in this case told police that there was a hostage situation at Hogg’s home.
The fire department responded to the residence and discovered the call was a prank.
The sheriff’s department sent multiple crews and a helicopter to the scene.
Hogg was not home at the time of the incident.
Since the massacre at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, Hogg has been a star among gun control advocates and a target of criticism by gun rights advocates.
