Officials say a Los Angeles mail carrier was found dead inside her postal truck in a neighborhood that reached 117 degrees (47 Celsius) during last week’s record-breaking heat wave.

Coroner’s spokesman Ed Winter said Tuesday that 63-year-old Peggy Frank died on the afternoon of July 6 in Woodland Hills. The cause is under investigation.

Winter said Frank had pre-existing medical issues, but he wouldn’t elaborate.

She had worked for the United States Postal Service for 28 years.

The USPS says its employees undergo required training about working during extreme weather.

The federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration is investigating.
