A second firefighter has died battling a raging wildfire in Shasta County, according to Cal Fire.
Officials say this person was a firefighter for the City of Redding.
Their identity is not being released until family members are notified first.
The exact cause of death is not confirmed at this time.
The first death was a private hire dozer operator. He was pronounced dead Thursday night.
Three other firefighters are injured.
The fire, being referred to as the Carr Fire, has scorched 45,000 acres.
Several homes are destroyed.
The fire is only six percent contained.
“The Carr Fire continues to burn at a rapid rate with extreme erratic fire behavior,” officials said. “More information will be released as it becomes available.”
