Even as controversy continues to surround former 49ers quarterback Colin Kaepernick, his old high school is planning to induct him into its Hall of Fame.

Kaepernick has become a national figure since his refusal to stand two years ago during the National Anthem to highlight police brutality.

He grew up in Turlock and attended Pitman High School where he played football, baseball, and basketball.

Those who knew him say he deserves to be in Pitman’s Hall of Fame.

Kaepernick recently appeared in Nike’s 30th anniversary “Just Do It” campaign commercial.

He’s expected to attend the induction ceremony in Turlock on Nov. 3.
