A 10-year-old girl is in critical condition after being struck by a car in Brentwood Monday morning.
At around 7:44 a.m., officers responded to a report of a car hitting a pedestrian at Balfour Road and Guise Way.
Police say it appears that the driver of a Nissan Altima was traveling eastbound on Balfour Road when it struck the girl who was walking northbound across the roadway in the crosswalk.
The 10-year-old was flown to UC Davis Medical Center where she is in critical condition.
At this time, police say drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor.
The driver stayed at the scene and has cooperated with the police investigation.
