SAN JOSE, Calif. (KRON) — San Jose is on pace to not just pass but shatter the record for the amount of pedestrian fatalities in a year.
The latest victim died a few days ago after he was hit on a crosswalk overnight on Jan. 23 while at Newhall and the Alameda.
A total of seven pedestrians have died in San Jose this year, officials say.
The driver appeared to stop for a brief second but kept going so the search continues for that person.
So far this year ten people have died in San Jose in traffic collisions.
The city had 60 total pedestrian deaths last year.
Many of the victims have been homeless and often times are not in the crosswalk.
