With Monday potentially being the Raiders’ last game in Oakland, quarterback Derek Carr spoke about what the Coliseum means to him and shared some of his favorite memories.
“It’s home,” Carr said during a press conference Thursday. “It’s where I got drafted. It’s where I have some of the favorite memories.”
The Raiders announced last week that a lease at the Coliseum for the 2019 season was ‘off the table’ — this came shortly after the City of Oakland said its suing the team and the NFL over the Raiders’ move to Las Vegas.
The city says the team violated antitrust laws and that the NFL violated its own relocation policies when approving the Raiders’ move to Las Vegas.
Carr said the notion that this could be his last game at the Coliseum is “weird.”
“I don’t want that, I know our fans don’t,” Carr said. “Knowing our fans though, they’ll get our attention with how loud they are and how crazy it will be. You can’t help yourself but just to enjoy the best fans in the world, the most loyal fans than any sports, any team has to offer.”
Carr said the Coliseum is a special place to him and “always will be.”
It’s unknown where the Raiders will call home next season.
