OAKLAND (KRON) — In preparation for the New Year’s Eve holiday, the Oakland Police Department has issued a ‘zero tolerance’ message in hopes of stopping people from driving under the influence of drugs and alcohol.
In addition to stopping people from driving under the influence, the department is also asking Oakland residents to avoid celebratory gunfire and illegal fireworks on New Year’s Eve.
The police department says it will have additional patrols throughout the city dedicated to stopping DUI drivers and illegal gun use.
Those who spot suspected DUI drivers or illegal gun use are asked to call 911 or (510) 777-3211.
